Free Community Yoga (November: Yin Yoga)

Free Community Yoga (November: Yin Yoga)

November 9, 2022

Join SPH Health & Wellness at SPARC each Wednesday evening in November from 6-7pm for an hour of FREE community yoga with instructor Metis Riley!

All ages & abilities are welcome to any or all of these drop-in classes. We will have extra yoga mats, blocks, blankets & bolster pillows but please bring your own if you have them. Also recommended to bring: warm layers (socks &  a hoodie or sweater especially) and a water bottle.

Class Description: Yin yoga is a slow, low to the ground practice. Each pose is held for 3 to 10 minutes, allowing gravity and time to move the body deeper into the posture. Props are used to help create comfortable and accessible poses. Yin yoga works on the connective tissue of fascia, ligaments, and tendons rather than the big muscle groups. This practice invites us to be still and look within, perfect for this season and time of the year. To enjoy this cozy yoga class we want to be warm and supported while holding longer poses on the floor. Layers (especially socks & a hoodie), yoga mat & any yoga props (like blocks or bands), a blanket, and pillow/bolster are all recommended. Extra mats, props, blankets and bolsters will be available!

Instructor Bio: Metis Riley is a Yin certified yoga instructor and lifelong student. When she's not practicing yoga, she's painting, running her small business, and spending time outside. She lives in Fritz Creek with her husband Orion, an adopted bulldog, and an ancient cat.
