In cooperation with South Peninsula Hospital, the Homer Kachemak Bay Rotary Club sponsors the annual Rotary Health Fair every year on the first Saturday in November in the Homer High School commons at 600 Fairview Avenue.

As part of the health fair, comprehensive blood analysis is available for a substantial discount from the average cost of a comparable test.  In addition to the basic wellness test, additional tests available for purchase include prostate, thyroid, cardiac, vitamin D and hemoglobin A1C. Appointments are available in advance of the fair, at the fair, and on a walk-in basis after 9AM at the fair.

The purpose of the fair is to set aside just one day of your life to take advantage of free and inexpensive health screenings and up-to-date information on relevant health topics.  Over 60 exhibitors offer various health screenings and services, including blood pressure, vision tests, hearing tests, flu shots, fitness tests and more.

The appointments for lab draws in advance of the fair are held at South Peninsula Hospital on the lower level, using the Bartlett Street entrance.  Appointments are usually available from 8am – 1pm and take only a few minutes.

South Peninsula Hospital also presents Know Your Numbers with Dr. Ross Tanner, of the Diabetes & Lipid Clinic of Alaska, to answer your questions about labs and lab results.  Dr. Tanner always covers an incredible amount of information during his presentation, and it is always free and open to the public.  Know Your Numbers is usually on the Thursday evening the week after the Rotary Health Fair.
