Rob Downey, MD, IFMCP
MD, University of Utah, 1997
Board Certified Family Medicine 2000 to present.
Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner (IFMCP) 2016, ten years of experience providing Functional Medicine in Montana and Alaska.
Hometown: Kalispell, MT
Homer resident since 2011, provided care in Kotzebue from 2000 to 2002. Rob chooses to live in Homer because he is fortunate enough to have the opportunity to do so and because he feels that Homer is a positive, beautiful and energetic place.
Interests: Running, fishing, boating, hiking, skiing, mountaineering, reading, poetry, healthy lifestyle, mindfulness.
Dee Dahmann RRT, RPSGT, RST
Dee Dahmann RRT, RPSGT, RST is our Functional Medicine Clinic Manager. Dee started working in the medical field at the age of 16 and completed her education in Respiratory Therapy, Biology, Business Administration and Sleep Medicine before moving to Alaska in 2010. She has a great thirst for knowledge and loves Alaska and all that it entails. Travel, fishing, hunting, gardening, charcuterie, smoking meats and canning are a few of her broad list of interests. She practices mindfulness and meditation daily, works toward improving her life and that of those around her daily and thoroughly enjoys working with the SPH Functional Medicine team.

A ’67 Ford brought Carol Comfort to Homer, Alaska in 1985. Prior to her arrival she travelled with the performing company Up With People then studied music and sports medicine at The Evergreen State College. Carol & Wally raised and homeschooled their two children, Kelsey and Trevor in Homer. Carol has recently received certification as Functional Medicine Health Coach. Carol’s passion for living a healthy lifestyle is fueled by her meditation practice, outdoor activities, morning swims, knitting, learning to play cello and teaching piano at her private music studio. Carol looks forward to creating lasting, healthy lifestyles with the Homer community.
Christina Blandford RN, BSN, FMCHC
FMC Registered Nurse
Christina joined the SPH Functional Medicine Clinic team in May 2016 as the clinic’s Registered Nurse. She is a lifelong Alaskan, originally from Nome, and now a permanent resident of Homer. Christina has a passion for health and wellness, which led her to pursue a position in Functional Medicine. She is a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach and currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Health Practice through distance learning at UAA. In her spare time, she enjoys fishing, hiking, and being outdoors.
