    In honor of a fabulous pioneer of this program, the needle and syringe exchange is now called “Megan’s Place”. Every first and third Tuesday from 5-7PM at the SPH Training Center at 203 W. Pioneer Ave., anyone in need can confidentially dispose of used needles & obtain clean needles, and access free resources & information including naloxone (overdose) kits, sanitary products, referrals for free HIV and Hepatitis C testing, fresh cookies, and MORE! Safe, confidential FREE community resource run by a great team of discreet, helpful and trained volunteers.

    South Peninsula Hospital will accept sharps on the second Wednesday of each month from 1 – 3 p.m. During this time only, sharps will be accepted from the public and only at the loading dock entrance, found on the lower level east side below the main entrance.

    The South Kenai Peninsula Hospital Service Area Board regular monthly meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm, normally at the hospital, but until further notice on ZOOM.  The Committee of the Whole will meet at 5:30 pm in a worksession. The public is welcome to attend both meetings.  The ZOOM link is available on the Kenai Peninsula Borough website here.

    Join South Peninsula Hospital Community Health & Wellness, Homer Medical Center Physician Giulia Tortora, MD, and Estate Planning Attorney Lindsay Wolter at the Alaska Maritime NWR Visitor Center on Wednesday, September 14th from 6pm-8pm for a free community presentation about end of life decision making and planning.

    This event will be recorded for later viewing, and there will be time for questions.

    Join SPH and the All Things Recovery Coalition (formerly the South Kenai Peninsula Opioid Task Force) for an indoor casual open walk with a chance to ask questions of local healthcare professionals treating addiction and supporting recovery from substance use disorders. Learn about the life saving medication Narcan, how to use it, and pick up a free kit. All are welcome!

    National Recovery Month is a national observance held every September to promote and support new evidence-based treatment and recovery practices, the emergence of a strong and proud recovery community, and the dedication of service providers and community members across the nation who make recovery possible in all its forms.     NOTE: There will be a combined Nov/Dec Meeting on Wednesday, December 7th at 5:30pm.

    Monthly Board meetings are generally held every fourth Wednesday of the month at 5:30pm. The public is welcome to attend the meetings virtually.

    South Peninsula Hospital, Inc. is non-profit organization governed by an 11-member board of directors which ensures the hospital is fiscally sound while maintaining the quality of care and types of services desired by the residents in the Southern Kenai Peninsula Hospital Service Area.

    The board members are appointed to three-year terms upon completing an interview process by the board's Membership Committee.

    The Board welcomes and encourages community input for the direction of your hospital. Please plan to attend a meeting (public comments are welcomed at the beginning and end of the meeting), or email a message to them at sphbod@sphosp.org.
