    Every first and third Tuesday from 5-7PM at the SPH Training Center at 203 W. Pioneer Ave., anyone in need can safely & confidentially dispose of used needles & obtain clean needles, and access free resources and information including naloxone (overdose) kits, sanitary products, free rapid on-site HIV/AIDS & Hep-C testing and more.

    Additionally, South Peninsula Hospital accepts sharps on the second Wednesday of each month from 1 - 3 p.m. During this time only, sharps will be accepted from the public and only at the loading dock entrance, found on the lower level east side below the main entrance. Refer to this brochure for additional information on safe options for needle disposal and this handout: What should I do if I find a needle?

    Join SPH Health & Wellness at SPARC each Wednesday evening in January 2023 from 6-7pm for an hour of FREE community yoga with instructor Orion Donicht!
    These classes are free, open to all ages & abilities and no registration is needed.
    Instructor Bio:
    Orion Donicht has been practicing yoga since 2002. In 2017 he became a certified yoga teacher with additional training in Hot 26. He is driven to share this wonderful effective practice with everyone he can.
    Class Description:
    This beginner level series of 26 vigorous postures and two breathing exercises is designed to be simple but challenging. The sequence repeats each week so students are able to revisit the postures and measure their progress. All you need is a yoga mat (please bring your own if you have one, but we will have extras available!), water bottle, and clothes that you can easily move in.
    Also recommended to bring: warm extra layers and a water bottle.

    Monthly Board meetings are generally held every fourth Wednesday of the month at 5:30pm.  The public is welcome to attend the meetings virtually and in person in the hospital's conference rooms (located on the lower level - please use the Bartlett Street entrance).

    South Peninsula Hospital, Inc. is non-profit organization governed by an 11-member board of directors which ensures the hospital is fiscally sound while maintaining the quality of care and types of services desired by the residents in the Southern Kenai Peninsula Hospital Service Area.

    The board members are appointed to three-year terms upon completing an interview process by the board's Membership Committee.

    The Board welcomes and encourages community input for the direction of your hospital. Please plan to attend a meeting (public comments are welcomed at the beginning and end of the meeting), or email a message to them at sphbod@sphosp.org.

    Homer Community Resource Connect (formerly known as Homer Project Homeless Connect) will be on Tuesday, January 31 from 11am-3pm in Homer at SPARC and in Anchor Point at the Anchor Point Food Pantry. Join the public group for updates, volunteering & donation info, and more!
    Community Resource Connect is a free, in-person, one day "one stop shop" for those who are experiencing homelessness or at risk for becoming homeless, and anyone needing extra support!
    Everyone is eligible to attend and access whatever resources they need. An array of offerings will be available like emergency housing assistance information, help accessing employment resources and public assistance, education info, health screenings, and information about various organizations. In addition to vendors, there will be free supplies like winter gear, personal hygiene supplies, clothing, food to-go, laundry/shower vouchers, and more!
    Know someone who needs a ride to/from the event? Independent Living Center is providing taxi vouchers via Kostas Taxi, please call (907) 399-8008 for a ride in Homer and we will provide vouchers upon their arrival. For ride assistance in Anchor Point, please direct folks to (907) 299-2188.
