    Every first and third Tuesday from 5-7PM at the SPH Training Center at t 4014 Lake Street, Suite 101, anyone in need can safely & confidentially dispose of used needles & obtain clean needles, and access free resources and information including naloxone (overdose) kits, sanitary products, free rapid on-site HIV/AIDS & Hep-C testing and more.

    Join South Peninsula Hospital's Health and Wellness for the first Wellness Wednesday of 2024 on January 3rd from 5:00-7:00pm at Kachemak Bay Campus, Homer.

    In this workshop, Angie McDermott Schreier will share the power of the breath and how it can be used to improve your mental and physical health. Through a series of guided breathing exercises and meditation techniques, you'll learn how to tap into the healing power of your breath and use it to reduce stress and anxiety, improve your focus and clarity, and promote feelings of relaxation and calm.

    Then, we'll flow into a gentle, Hatha-based yoga class led by Britt Huffman. This class focuses on traditional postures while incorporating mindful movements at a slower pace. Using our breath to complement each alignment-based posture will help bring awareness to where we are in each moment. Some poses may be held longer to help ease the nervous system while providing deep stretch. This class is great for all humans of all ages, those new to yoga and seasoned yogis looking to enrich their practice.

    Britt is certified in Hatha yoga, Meditation, Yoga for the Special Child and is an Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor. You will find that her classes will blend together what she has learned into a unique experience. When she is not in yogi mode, Britt enjoys snowboarding, hiking, live music, dancing, gardening and will be welcoming her first child this spring!

    We'll also have hot soup and delicious bread! This is a FREE event, everyone is welcome! Come for a part or stay for all!

    Join South Peninsula Hospital's Health and Wellness for Wellness Wednesday on January 10th from 5:00-7:00pm at Kachemak Bay Campus, Homer.

    Dr. Rob Downey will delve into the non-conventional causes of fatigue often overlooked by traditional medicine. During this informative session, Dr. Downey will explore the root causes of fatigue, such as nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, and chronic stress, and offer practical tips and integrative approaches for restoring energy and vitality.

    Then, we'll flow into a gentle, Hatha-based yoga class led by Britt Huffman. This class focuses on traditional postures while incorporating mindful movements at a slower pace.     Join South Peninsula Hospital's Health and Wellness for Wellness Wednesday on January 17th from 5:00-7:00pm at Kachemak Bay Campus, Homer.

    In this workshop, Dr. Joe Llenos, a Board-certified family medicine doctor, will share how food can be used to maintain good health. Dr. Llenos will discuss the benefits of a healthy diet and the impact of food on our overall well-being. You will learn how to harness the power of nutrition to improve your health and vitality. The presentation is an excellent opportunity to gain insights into using food as medicine and how it intersects with nutrition and health.

    We'll explore diversity in wellness as Ted Carter shares inclusivity and cultural understanding in wellness practices. We will discuss recognizing cultural differences, adapting wellness practices to be more inclusive, understanding privilege, and fostering inclusivity through active listening, empathy, and curiosity.

    South Peninsula Hospital, Inc. is non-profit organization governed by an 11-member board of directors which ensures the hospital is fiscally sound while maintaining the quality of care and types of services desired by the residents in the Southern Kenai Peninsula Hospital Service Area.

    The board members are appointed to three-year terms upon completing an interview process by the board's Membership Committee.

    The Board welcomes and encourages community input for the direction of your hospital. Please plan to attend a meeting (public comments are welcomed at the beginning and end of the meeting), or email a message to them at sphbod@sphosp.org.

    Anyone in need of resources is invited to this FREE one-day event on January 30th from 11am-3pm! All are welcome. FREE emergency gear, backpacks, comfort packs, food-to-go, sleeping bags, menstrual kits, winter gear, and more. Get connected with over 20 local vendors offering resources related to food, employment info, health care and mental health, health screenings, and much more.
    Note that this location will be held in both Homer at the SPARC AND in Anchor Point at the VFW!
    Free transportation is offered to and from both locations. On-site childcare, lunch, and coffee will also be provided!
