Dori Hagen, LPC is a licensed professional counselor practicing in Homer. She will be sharing some strategies and resources that may help you with the “pandemic fatigue” of the last 18 months, as well as interpersonal conflicts and increases in mental health issues like depression, anxiety, and substance use.
Message from Dori: “I am honored to spend some time with you this November. There is an old proverb that says, “hope deferred makes the heart sick.” It is my heart’s desire that time spent with you can bring a ray of hope that has been difficult or impossible to see.”

Rob Downey, MD, IFMCP is a board-certified family practice physician who specializes in Functional Medicine. His medical practice at Seaworthy Functional Medicine (a South Peninsula Hospital clinic) involves understanding the origin, prevention, and treatment of complex, chronic disease. Dr. Downey will be speaking on some of the foods, nutrients and supplements you might be able to use to support your immune function both to prevent and recover from COVID-19.

In cooperation with Homer Public Health and the City of Homer, South Peninsula Hospital will be offering a booster shot clinic by appointment only from 9am-1pm at the Homer High School (600 E Fairview Ave) on Saturday October 30th and Saturday, November 6th - links below to make an appointment after confirming your eligiblity.
Pfizer BioNTech, Moderna and Janssen COVID-19 vaccine booster shots are available under FDA emergency use authorization and CDC recommended for:
Boosters are also available to anyone who is six months or more after their initial series of the Pfizer or Moderna series based on their individual health benefit and risk evaluation for individuals:
Eligible individuals may choose which vaccine they receive as a booster dose. Some may have a preference for the vaccine type they originally received, while others may prefer to get a different booster.

The South Kenai Peninsula Hospital Service Area Board regular monthly meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm, normally at the hospital, but until further notice on ZOOM. The Committee of the Whole will meet at 5:30 pm in a worksession. The public is welcome to attend both meetings. The ZOOM link is available on the Kenai Peninsula Borough website here.
