South Peninsula Hospital is expanding access to same-day care with the opening of a walk-in Urgent Care clinic on June 1. Located at 4201 Bartlett Street, in the same building as the Family Care Clinic, Urgent Care will be open Monday through Saturday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. No appointments are necessary, and patients will have access to on-site labs and X-rays. Urgent Care will be staffed by Carrie Warren, FNP-C, who is moving from the Family Care team, and Kara Zimmerman, PA-C, who recently moved to Homer.
South Peninsula Hospital knows to have significant impact on community health requires a collective approach from many partners, and we are happy support local coalitions doing this meaningful work on the southern Kenai peninsula. Through financial contribution, staff support and leadership representation, we are proud to be part of these efforts to break down silos and work together improve community health.
MAPP stands for “Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships.” MAPP is a health improvement coalition that facilitates citizens who are committed to making their community a better place for everyone! To do that, MAPP provides information about emerging health issues and opportunities, convenes conversations to develop a shared vision for well-being, and serves as a catalyst for community members to take action on projects that support the shared vision. Then MAPP monitors and shares progress on our shared community measures so we’ll know when we’ve been successful.
Every participant in MAPP (whether one of 40 organizations, or an individual like you) is a local resident who wants to make a difference for the Southern Kenai Peninsula.

Southern Kenai Peninsula Resilience Coalition
The Southern Kenai Peninsula (SKP) Resilience Coalition is a collaborative network of local organizations, service providers, and community members working together to build a healthier, more connected community. The coalition focuses on strengthening relationships, supporting families, and promoting resilience across the lifespan, especially for youth. The coalition’s vision is a community where youth feel safe, supported, and cared for through positive relationships. Research shows that strong, supportive connections can help buffer stress and adversity, improving both mental and physical health outcomes. By fostering these everyday connections, the coalition works to create a community where all individuals have the opportunity to thrive.
What We Do
The SKP Resilience Coalition brings partners together to align efforts, share resources, and implement community-driven strategies that support resilience and prevent violence and substance misuse.
Key initiatives include:
- Youth-focused prevention efforts, including Planet Youth Homer, which supports healthy choices and reduces risk behaviors among young people
- Teen Mental Health First Aid, equipping youth with tools to recognize and respond to mental health challenges in themselves and their peers
- Community education and engagement, promoting trauma-informed practices and increasing awareness of the importance of connection and resilience
- Cross-sector collaboration, bringing together healthcare, education, behavioral health, and community organizations to address shared priorities
The coalition emphasizes that resilience is built through relationships, and that everyone in the community has a role to play in supporting youth and families.
