Heartsaver Total – First Aid, CPR, AED

The American Heart Association Heartsaver® Total – First Aid, CPR, AED Online course provides high-quality training in first aid, CPR, and AED use. This course equips individuals and workplaces with the confidence to respond effectively to medical emergencies until emergency responders arrive. The online course format is a convenient way to learn at your own pace and schedule.

This course is designed for individuals with little or no medical background who need first aid, AED and CPR training to meet work or other regulatory requirements like OSHA. It is also ideal for anyone who wants to be prepared to respond effectively to emergencies at work, home, or in the community. Common participants include teachers, daycare providers, Coast Guard, fitness trainers, coaches and varying other community members.

  • Preventing illness and injury
  • Opioid-associated life-threatening emergencies and how to use Nalaxone

Course Format:

  • Heartsaver Total – First Aid CPR AED Online is the required online course for the American Heart Association blended learning training.
  • The blended learning format allows students to complete the online course at their convenience, followed by a hands-on skills session with an American Heart Association Training Center Instructor at the SPH Training Center.
  • Upon successful completion, students receive a Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course Completion Card, valid for two years.

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare professionals’ trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality CPR, deliver appropriate ventilations, and provide early use of an AED. This class is primarily taken by healthcare professionals including doctors, nurses, EMT’s, dental staff, medical assistants and students in the medical field.

HeartCode® BLS Online is a self-directed, comprehensive eLearning program that uses adaptive learning technology to allow learners to acquire and demonstrate Basic Life Support skills using a personalized learning path that adapts in real time to a learner’s performance. The program is designed for healthcare professionals who need Basic Life Support training for their clinical duties. Utilizing a variety of eLearning assets such as dramatizations, Cognitive Assessment Activities, illustrations, knowledge checks and interactive activities, this program teaches BLS knowledge and skills. This method of learning provides training consistency and adaptability to different learning styles. Students can work at their own pace applying their knowledge to real-time decision making. Debriefings and coaching are provided immediately after each knowledge check and each Cognitive Assessment Activity.
