Basic Life Support (BLS) courses are also available at SPH for healthcare professionals. The class cost is $85.00 and payment is required at time of registration. Class format is a 4 hour in-person course.

CPR/AED & First Aid

This program is for anyone with limited or no medical training who wants to learn about adult, child and infant First aid and CPR and how to operate an AED and/or needs an AHA course completion card. You will learn:

– Adult CPR and AED use
– Adult choking
– Child & Infant CPR
– Child AED use
– Child & infant choking
– High-quality compressions, airway management, breathing, and how to use a mask
– First aid basics
– Medical emergencies
– Injury emergencies
– Environmental emergencies
– Bandaging, bleeding, wounds, choking, shock, seizure, fainting, broken bones, sprains, burns, bites, stings, poison, and temperature-related conditions.

Course Completion through Online + Skills Check

The following three parts are all required for successful completion:

  • Part 1: Contact SPH Education Department 907-235-0258 to schedule a time to complete the required skills check-off. The live Skills Check-off fee is $50.00 for either CPRAED or First Aid. The combined fee for both CPRAED and First Aid is $80.00. Fee is payable to South Peninsula Hospital at time of enrollment to reserve your appointment time.Dates available for skills check appointments:

  • Part 2:  Purchase and complete the coursework available through the AHA site:
    • Note: Fee for the online pre-class is payable to the AHA and is separate from the live skills check fee in Part 1.
  • Part 3: Bring your online completion certificate with you to attend your scheduled live skills check
    • Cancellation Policy: SPH Education must be notified of all cancellations at least 7 days prior to the start of any class. If you are more than 10 minutes late without notification, you will need to reschedule. There is no refund for cancellations less than 7 days prior to the class start date. If SPH cancels the class, a full refund will be issued. There are no fees incurred if the class is rescheduled for another date.

This program is typically for healthcare professionals who need BLS credentialing for employment, and participants are awarded an AHA BLS provider card after successful completion.
