January 22, 2019Childbirth, Newborn Care, and Breastfeeding classes offered free of charge to Homer Medical Center clients. These classes are all held on Tuesday Evenings from 5:30pm - 7:30pm in the South Peninsula Hospital Conference Rooms 1 & 2 (park in the lower parking lot and enter through the double doors by the cafeteria).
You may bring a coach with you to class, you may bring food, and you may come to all, just a few or even one class!

Tuesday, January 15th with Dana Whittaker, CNM: 3rd Trimester, anatomy, labor and birth.
Tuesday, January 22nd with Dana Whittaker, CNM: Breathing & relaxation techniques, other pain relief options.
Tuesday, January 29th with Dana Whittaker, CNM: Complications of labor and birth, tour of the Birth Place at South Peninsula Hospital.
Tuesday, February 5th with Julie McCarron, CNM or Sonja Martin-Young, CNM: Newborn care.
Tuesday, February 12th with Julie McCarron, CNM: Breastfeeding.

Living Well Alaska is a six week group workshop for people dealing with ongoing health conditions or their family or caregivers. People with all kinds of long term conditions such as arthritis, asthma, diabetes, heart disease, and other illnesses can benefit. It offers fun with others while you practice skills to live life to the fullest and meet day-to-day challenges. At a Living Well Alaska workshop, you will learn the skills to set goals, problem solve understand and handle symptoms, eat well and be active, deal with difficult emotions and work with your health care team
The cost is only $10 for the entire six-week series. Registration is required. For more information and to register, please call the hospital’s education department at (907) 235-0258.

January 23, 2019Monthly Board meetings are generally held every fourth Wednesday of the month at 7:00pm in the hospital’s conference room. The public is welcome.
South Peninsula Hospital, Inc. is non-profit organization governed by a nine-member board of directors which ensures the hospital is fiscally sound while maintaining the quality of care and types of services desired by the residents in the Southern Kenai Peninsula Hospital Service Area.
The board is an all-volunteer board, with members appointed to three-year terms upon completing an interview process by the board’s Membership Committee.
The Board welcomes and encourages community input for the direction of your hospital. Please plan to attend a meeting (public comments are welcomed at the beginning and end of the meeting), or email a message to them at sphbod@sphosp.org.
