Do you have any new tents, water jugs, sleds, gently used sleeping bags or pads, backpacks, jackets, etc, lying around? Bring them to Coop's Coffee starting Monday, January 15th, and you'll receive a free cup of coffee with your donation!
Kachemak Bay Family Planning is also running a supply drive for Menstrual products to offer to folks attending the event. You can drop unopened boxes of tampons and pads at the KBFP clinic until Monday Jan 29. Thank you for supporting your community!

Wellness Wednesday: Diversity in Wellness with Ted CarterWellness Wednesday: Diversity in Wellness with Ted Carter

January 24, 2024Join South Peninsula Hospital's Health and Wellness for Wellness Wednesday on January 24h from 5:00-7:00pm at Kachemak Bay Campus, Homer.
We'll explore diversity in wellness as Ted Carter shares inclusivity and cultural understanding in wellness practices. We will discuss recognizing cultural differences, adapting wellness practices to be more inclusive, understanding privilege, and fostering inclusivity through active listening, empathy, and curiosity.
Then, we'll flow into a gentle, Hatha-based yoga class led by Britt Huffman. This class focuses on traditional postures while incorporating mindful movements at a slower pace. Using our breath to complement each alignment-based posture will help bring awareness to where we are in each moment. Some poses may be held longer to help ease the nervous system while providing deep stretch. This class is great for all humans of all ages, those new to yoga and seasoned yogis looking to enrich their practice.
Britt is certified in Hatha yoga, Meditation, Yoga for the Special Child and is an Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor. You will find that her classes will blend together what she has learned into a unique experience. When she is not in yogi mode, Britt enjoys snowboarding, hiking, live music, dancing, gardening and will be welcoming her first child this spring!
We'll also have hot soup and delicious bread! This is a FREE event; everyone is welcome! Come for a part or stay for all!

January 24, 2024Monthly Board meetings are generally held every fourth Wednesday of the month at 5:30pm. The public is welcome to attend the meetings virtually and in person in the hospital's conference rooms (located on the lower level - please use the Bartlett Street entrance).

South Peninsula Hospital, Inc. is non-profit organization governed by an 11-member board of directors which ensures the hospital is fiscally sound while maintaining the quality of care and types of services desired by the residents in the Southern Kenai Peninsula Hospital Service Area.
The board members are appointed to three-year terms upon completing an interview process by the board's Membership Committee.
The Board welcomes and encourages community input for the direction of your hospital. Please plan to attend a meeting (public comments are welcomed at the beginning and end of the meeting), or email a message to them at sphbod@sphosp.org.
