    Homer Steps Up! is a free annual community walking challenge, where teams of 5-25 members compete for the original Homer Steps Up trophy - the team with the highest cumulative average steps from May 1 - 28 wins!
    INDIVIDUAL PRIZES: All active participants walking at least 5,000 steps a day (or equivalent if converting activities due to injury or ability) have a chance to win:
    Homer Bucks every week (3 winners, in 3 different steps total categories, AND the amount gets bigger every week!) and one of the three $100, $200, or $300 cash prizes at the end of the challenge! JUST FOR WALKING!

    In honor of a fabulous pioneer of this program, the needle and syringe exchange is now called “Megan’s Place”. Every first and third Tuesday from 5-7PM at the SPH Training Center at 203 W. Pioneer Ave., anyone in need can confidentially dispose of used needles & obtain clean needles, and access free resources & information including naloxone (overdose) kits, sanitary products, referrals for free HIV and Hepatitis C testing, fresh cookies, and MORE! Safe, confidential FREE community resource run by a great team of discreet, helpful and trained volunteers.

    South Peninsula Hospital will accept sharps on the second Wednesday of each month from 1 – 3 p.m. During this time only, sharps will be accepted from the public and only at the loading dock entrance, found on the lower level east side below the main entrance.

    More free community yoga, sponsored by South Peninsula Hospital and the Southern Kenai Peninsula Resilience Coalition!

    Join Yoga instructor Asia Freeman to explore a combination of yoga and Pilates for strength, core stability, balance and flexibility.

    We will meet on Wednesday evenings in May from 6-7pm at SPARC, expect all participants to attest to self-screening to attend, and we will space 6' apart. Masks are optional but always encouraged.

    This class is accessible for all levels as long as you can sit on the floor, stand, and lie down independently.

    Bring a water bottle, layers, a yoga mat and a yoga block if you have one (there will be some yoga mats available for use).

    SPH Wellness Walks at SPARC - join us for a free hour of safe, indoor walking every first and third Saturday of each month from 9am-10am at SPARC.
    There will prizes to be won just for attendance, as well as free blood pressure screenings and great health information to be shared at our information table.
    SPH Wellness Walks offer a great opportunity to stay active, connect with community, win prizes, and get a dose of health and wellness education!
    Masks are optional but encouraged, and please don't forget to bring a clean pair of indoor walking shoes!
