    SPH Wellness Walks at SPARC - join us for a free hour of safe, indoor walking every first and third Saturday of each month from 9am-10am at SPARC.
    There will prizes to be won just for attendance, as well as free blood pressure screenings and great health information to be shared at our information table.
    SPH Wellness Walks offer a great opportunity to stay active, connect with community, win prizes, and get a dose of health and wellness education!
    Masks are optional but encouraged, and please don't forget to bring a clean pair of indoor walking shoes!

    In honor of a fabulous pioneer of this program, the needle and syringe exchange is now called “Megan’s Place”. Every first and third Tuesday from 5-7PM at the SPH Training Center at 203 W. Pioneer Ave., anyone in need can confidentially dispose of used needles & obtain clean needles, and access free resources & information including naloxone (overdose) kits, sanitary products, referrals for free HIV and Hepatitis C testing, fresh cookies, and MORE! Safe, confidential FREE community resource run by a great team of discreet, helpful and trained volunteers.

    South Peninsula Hospital will accept sharps on the second Wednesday of each month from 1 – 3 p.m. During this time only, sharps will be accepted from the public and only at the loading dock entrance, found on the lower level east side below the main entrance.

    The South Kenai Peninsula Hospital Service Area Board regular monthly meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm, normally at the hospital, but until further notice on ZOOM.  The Committee of the Whole will meet at 5:30 pm in a worksession. The public is welcome to attend both meetings.  The ZOOM link is available on the Kenai Peninsula Borough website here.

    NOTE: There will be a combined Nov/Dec Meeting on Wednesday, December 7th at 5:30pm.

    Monthly Board meetings are generally held every fourth Wednesday of the month at 5:30pm. The public is welcome to attend the meetings virtually.

    South Peninsula Hospital, Inc. is non-profit organization governed by an 11-member board of directors which ensures the hospital is fiscally sound while maintaining the quality of care and types of services desired by the residents in the Southern Kenai Peninsula Hospital Service Area.

    The board members are appointed to three-year terms upon completing an interview process by the board's Membership Committee.

    The Board welcomes and encourages community input for the direction of your hospital. Please plan to attend a meeting (public comments are welcomed at the beginning and end of the meeting), or email a message to them at sphbod@sphosp.org.

    Join us for our quarterly MAPP Community Meeting! There will be presentations by ongoing projects in our community that promote one (or more!) of the 8 Dimensions of Wellness.

    OPUS, Accessible Homer, Community Center, Tuyanitun: Tuggeht, and Coalition for Healthy Democracy will be participants this quarter. There will also be time for attendees to network and reconnect with each other.

    MAPP (Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships) of the Southern Kenai Peninsula is a locally-driven coalition that supports individuals, groups, and organizations in collectively achieving shared goals that increase community resiliency. The backbone support provided includes the ongoing collection of community-level data, convening shared discussions to prioritize issues for action, and empowering community members to build on their strengths and employ a collective impact process to achieve goals.     Meet us at the Homer Chamber of Commerce for in-person help registering for the 6th Annual Community Walking Challenge, Homer Steps Up! 2022.
    We will also have free participant keychains, free pedometers & paper walking logs, and can help you enroll, start a team, sync your activity tracker or smartphone, and more!
    Homer Steps Up! is a free annual community walking challenge for the Southern Kenai Peninsula every year, usually from May 1-28, with weekly prize drawings and end of challenge cash prizes. Have fun, stay healthy & be safe!
