June 21, 2022In honor of a fabulous pioneer of this program, the needle and syringe exchange is now called “Megan’s Place”. Every first and third Tuesday from 5-7PM at the SPH Training Center at 203 W. Pioneer Ave., anyone in need can confidentially dispose of used needles & obtain clean needles, and access free resources & information including naloxone (overdose) kits, sanitary products, referrals for free HIV and Hepatitis C testing, fresh cookies, and MORE! Safe, confidential FREE community resource run by a great team of discreet, helpful and trained volunteers.

South Peninsula Hospital will accept sharps on the second Wednesday of each month from 1 – 3 p.m. During this time only, sharps will be accepted from the public and only at the loading dock entrance, found on the lower level east side below the main entrance.

June 22, 2022The Blood Bank of Alaska will be offering a 2-day blood drive in Homer on Wednesday & Thursday, June 22 & 23, 2022 in the Conference Rooms at the Best Western Bidarka Inn (575 Sterling Hwy, Homer) from 10am-5:30pm both days.

Monthly Board meetings are generally held every fourth Wednesday of the month at 5:30pm. The public is welcome to attend the meetings virtually.

South Peninsula Hospital, Inc. is non-profit organization governed by an 11-member board of directors which ensures the hospital is fiscally sound while maintaining the quality of care and types of services desired by the residents in the Southern Kenai Peninsula Hospital Service Area.
The board members are appointed to three-year terms upon completing an interview process by the board's Membership Committee.
The Board welcomes and encourages community input for the direction of your hospital. Please plan to attend a meeting (public comments are welcomed at the beginning and end of the meeting), or email a message to them at sphbod@sphosp.org.

June 25, 2022The Homer Spit Runs: Cosmic Hamlet Half Marathon & 10K to the Bay are coming right up on June 25th this year!Did you know you can join the Spit Runs as a walker, too? The 10K to the Bay, from Homer High School to Land's End on the Spit, has a walkers division!Walkers can register for the 10K on the morning of the race starting at 8am at the high school, or the day before on June 24th from 5:30-7:30pm (also at the high school) and runners can register early online at my.raceresult.com/203385/ (or on the morning of the race starting at 8am at Homer High School).Visit kachemakbayrunningclub.org or the KBRC Facebook page/event for more info!
